Military Veteran Entrepreneurs - Actually Thank Them for Their Service

I am a passionate advocate for military veteran entrepreneurs. In this part of my life, 2016 has been a very active year.

I am a passionate advocate for military veteran entrepreneurs. In this part of my life, 2016 has been a very active year. Talks at the Tech Inclusion Conferences (http://techinclusion.co) both in San Francisco in 2015 and Austin at SXSW Interactive in March) on the value of military veterans as entrepreneurs, leaders and employees have led to participation in the Bunker Labs Muster (http://bunkerlabs.org/event/the-muster-2016-big-ideas-for-america/) last May in Chicago, Patriot Boot Camp (http://www.patriotbootcamp.org) in Austin TX, and EBV National Program (http://ebv.vets.syr.edu) at the University of Missouri. In all of these events, I've met and encouraged an incredible number of diverse, military veteran entrepreneurs who are continuing their mission to protect and serve the nation - this time as entrepreneurs. In all of my talks, I encourage the veterans to continue to support each other, emphasizing that entrepreneurship is a team sport and that we need the continued camaraderie and support of our brothers and sisters in arms.

When speaking to our non-military veteran counterparts, I encourage them to go beyond the simple "Thank you for your service" and do a little something more to make those words mean something. For some, it is something as simple as it is taking the time to consider the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day, attend a service, and consider what those days mean to us and should mean to you. For others, it could be something more substantive like supporting deployed service members through gifts and letters, supporting military families by community engagement, or demanding action instead of lip-service and political games from our elected officials (especially in regards to the VA and flexibility with the GI Bill). We can all do a little more to have our actions speak louder than our words in this regard. Today I'm sharing a unique opportunity to help this community while you help yourself.

Consider this. TripSafe is a military veteran-owned tech startup that aims to revolutionize travel safety and security. Their new product, the world’s first truly portable personal security system, is launching today with an Indiegogo campaign. If you’d like to learn more about the campaign or the company itself, click the link below. It’s a fascinating product and they need all the help they can get. https://igg.me/at/tripsafe

The product is a cool and effective deterrent for crime while traveling. Please take a look and share your thoughts.

p.s. I am not currently an investor, partner, reseller or advisor to this company. I'm just a veteran helping another veteran along the path to success.

The article below highlights an announcement from Shein about creating a “sustainable blue jean” that significantly reduces the amount of water used in its production. While on its surface this sounds like a good idea, the article raises a lot of questions about the industry of fast fashion and the definition of sustainable fashion.
